The Kouns Family Foundation is a private foundation under Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)(3) focused on making grants to support the spread of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, equipping students, teachers, and parents to overcome educational challenges and to meet the demands of digital citizenship, and advancing social causes such as Protecting the Unborn, Veterans Wellbeing, Children’s’ Health and Promoting Girls/Women in Technology.
Further information about the focus of the programs we support can be found on the "Our Programs" webpage.
If you think your project falls within our mission and focus, applying for a grant is fairly simple and can be initiated by submitting a grant application using the "Apply for a Grant" page on this website.
Specific advice about the types of grants that we will and will not fund is available below.
Grant Guidelines & Deadlines
- We consider program/project grant requests only within our mission areas.
- US Nonprofit organizations that qualify for public charity status under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code are eligible for contributions or grants.
- Our foundation is based in Saint Augustine, Florida, but has no geographical restrictions within the US.
- Our foundation has two grant cycles: March and September.
- A completed "initial" application must be submitted online, using the "Apply for a Grant" page on this website by midnight Eastern Time on either March 31st or September 30th.
- If the Foundation believes your grant application is a good match to our funding interests and priorities, we will reach out to you with further instructions and a timeline on how to complete the "Grant Proposal".
- Grant Amounts typically range between $1,000 - $5,000. In some limited cases we may make larger grants, but that is typically after we know your organization over a period of time.
- We generally don’t make multi-year grants, although we may fund the same organization on a year by year basis.
- In general, all of our grants will be issued as restricted grants. (Interim and Final reports will be required.)
- The foundation does not make grants to:
- Individuals;
- International charitable organizations that are not qualified in the US;
- For-profit businesses;
- Political lobbying activities or other political purposes;
- Voter registration;
- Dinners, balls, or other ticketed events; or
- Purposes outside of the foundation's funding priorities as listed in the prior section.
